stanford's david shaw makes recruiting decisions like that. you got to know your situation. i don't see anything necessarily wrong with it. i think that's better than bringing kids into an environment they obviously won't be successful in. and one thing you can say about stanford is that they want all their athletes to be a success off the field.
Id fail instantly
I have what they call Samuel L's Syndrome
cant go a sentence out this muthafukka without saying muthafukka
wild different variations too
Im just going to say this, when you hear lebron speak about basketball or anything... you know thats a smart dude... he never stepped foot in a college class but i guarantee he could have a 4.0 gpa...
now when i hear andrew wiggins speak... i feel like thats my little cousin who always needed me to help with his social studies homework.... how is he going to lead a team if hes dumb as hell.
because in the context of professional athletics (which are made up of many minorities) most of the time it's coded language for "doesn't sound like a typical negro".
It's not a bad thing to be well spoken, and if you intend for one of these kids to be the face of a franchise at some point they should be somewhat articulate. But its not something I would use as a talking point...
there are somethings best kept in the boardroom/locker room ect. Not because its bad, but it will be PERCEIVED as insensitive.
