lol @ still trying to make streaming the future

Honesty, if Apple were to make Music Streaming a sustainable product, it wouldn't even rank in the top 5 of improbable successes by the company. They made Smart Phones a basic necessity, iPads/tablets are a huge market now, iPods were huge for years until the iPhone made them obsolete, even the damn watches are moving. The concept of only buying music digitally sounded stupid 10 years ago, now iTunes is the biggest music retailer in the world. Movie/TV streaming practically drove the entire movie rental industry out of business, and caused cable subscriptions to plummet. That alone, coupled with the fact that Apple hasn't had too many flops in the last 15 years, makes me think Apple Music is about to crush the buildings.

LOL @ Apple doing the exact same thing Jay just did. Let's see how many "HIT" pieces come out about it. LOL @ black people hating on Jay but will buy Apple no questions asked. The mental slavery and programming is deep.

Every article out so far is how Apple is about to save music :deadrose:

:laff: @ " A "revolutionary music service" curated by the music experts" dudes got on
Jay for the same rhetoric :sas2: but I get the feeling they won't be this way towards Apple
whatsoever. :sas1:

said the same shyt when everyone was shytting on Tidal: watch apple come out with basically the same shyt and get praised for it. but Jay better let this be a valuable lesson. selling to the general american public is a whole different ball game than hawking clothes and liquor to the hiphop crowd. nikka thought cause he was america's favorite hip hop entrepreneur he could of just show up and make that real money. learn from them old white men and play the background. instead of that fiasco of a launch dude should just been running ads on pop stations with generic pop and rock artist about Tidal and exclusive access to concerts, content etc and not having his name all over that shyt.

Tidal would have worked if Apple never wanted to compete.

apple kinda bogarts the attention and artists fall in line

And artists MAY eat more since apple isn't primarily trying to stiff them to sell content like spotify has to ONLY reply on subscribers

Artists get compensated depending on their contracts. It is not a flat fee. It depends on your label situation and the situation your label has with the streaming service. But yes, you get compensated based on plays but how much you get from that depends on your record contract. People like Drake got paid to be exclusive to Apple. Basically, he took the guaranteed up front money over the potential payout of Tidal.

The amount of money that comes in from a paid service is greater than that from an advertised stream. The pay out rate for a "free stream" with adds is less than one that comes from a paid subscriber.

the thing is though those innovations were made at a time when apple was actually innovating and had a head who actually knew what he was doing. Now apple is doing just plain dumb shyt like having slight variations of the same laptop for release, not calling the apple watch the iwatch, and the buggy ass 6.

But the point is streaming music is in the same boat as cloud storage. Is it cool and sometimes convenient? Yes. But it's not fully practical as it jumps ahead of itself in other technical advancements. With digital music and physical discs. You get the convenience of having all of your music with you, you can obtain lossless formats, and you don't need extra equipment if you already have an computer/phone/etc.. Streaming actually ADDS another requirement for not the acquiring but the actual listening of the music and data plans/towers/wifi spots aren't at a place where most people can comfortably while walking down the road, especially if they don't live in a bigger city. Not to mention the "offline" options somewhat defeat the purpose especially since they take up your space with downloading but you cant physically access the media. Not to mention I actually uploaded 13gbs of my own music to google play and come to find out i can't download it back to my computer more than 2 times.

I don't hate streaming. I stream sometimes at home, but i'd much rather just download the music and do what i please with it after that. And the difference between a service like netflix and music is there's certain places you watch a movie, and most have a stable internet connection. Not to mention movies are much harder to get than music.

I definitely think apple will be successful, but streaming won't make hard drive media obsolete the same way console gaming hasn't gotten rid of PC gaming

right so if everyone is paying 9.99 how does that money get disbursed to the artists? what is it based on?
