If you have a western digital drive in your mac i wouldnt.

If you dont though and have more than 4 gigs of ram then do it now.

I read a few things where people got their laptops wiped. Idk if that's what you're referring to.

What it does is it messes up the filesystem so you cant log back on. If you were to put the drive in another comptuer then you can have access to your files but other than that you wont be able to. I thought i had lost everything
