We can talk about middle eastern and north african comunities reproducing in the West their lifestyle, even among the youth.

When it comes to western modernity, most traditional societies are divided.

These threads are always huge caricatures. Which Middle East are we even talking about? The Levant? The Gulf? North Africa? Rural or Urban? Social class? Education?

Plenty of indicators also suggest the claims women are locked up and out of sight are dated and exaggerated. Women's literacy and education is way up in the Gulf, family sizes are down, and age of marriage is going up (like in the Western world).

They do not have an identical dating/social landscape is the West ( not yet at least) but the idea they are hidden away in caves is laughable. A little spin around a city during your deployment isnt exactly a sociological analysis. Neither is dating a random (Western born) girl. Like classic cab driver journalism.

Look at the rape statistics worldwide to really know what's going on. You know the media likes sensationalizing things and linking unrelated concepts. SA is not a muslim country, and there are no special religious laws to hold back women, yet look at the rape stats, even USA has a higher number of reported rape incidences than a lot of these "Arab" countries. Compare the rape incidences in Algeria, Morocco, Egypt, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar to USA, Congo, South Africa etc. and see for yourself.

Breh, you seriously believe rape stats in any of those countries? Police ain't looking to charge no man with a rape case. How would the woman even get to the police station in the first place, and who would take her seriously? The man would get off and the woman would just get shamed as "defiled goods" and probably end up getting honor killed. Rape is virtually NEVER reported there no matter how often it happens.

Historically when left to their own devices woman will choose the men with highest playing rank even if they don't like them back that hence (polygamy, harems, etc.).

Think polygamy and harems were the results of women's choices brehs.

I have no problem at all with a western lifestyle as that's what all of us aspire to attain, but the support structures don't exist at the moment in those countries most of the time, and the men know of these economic and political failings. Once these things are sorted, you"ll see the trend follow that of western countries. Look and compare how the HIV/AIDS epidemic decimated and stills continues to kill us Africans and compare to western nations, I can't even start speaking of single parenthood in both poor urban and rural settings and the effect that has had.

Isn't it possible that you got the order backwards though? As in perhaps if women's rights, human rights in general, and social equality were pursued more actively, that could help improve the social and support structures in those nations.
