Anyone played Ark: Survival Evolved? I'm building a new PC this week and want to play something somewhat cutting edge. The game looks dope from what I've seen on Twitch.
Wait til the 5th, that's when Skylake is out.

Does installing windows 10 mean I got to backup my files?
always backup what is important.

It wasn't necessary on two of my installs so far, but on this ASUS laptop something went wrong and had to start from scratch.

@Liquid I'm looking to build a new rig just sold my old one. I have around an 800 dollar budget and mainly looking to game in 1080p maybe some higher resolutions if I can find a monitor around black Friday. Would an i5/970 be a good combo for that?

I am not sure if you have a GPU preference, but the R9 390 is slightly more powerful than the 970 for about the same price. The 970 is more efficient and of course has all the extra nVidia stuff.

Either way, will you need to buy everything from scratch? If you are buying these parts new...an i5 and 970 isn't going to leave you with much room left over in a $800 build.

I kept my RAM and Power supply and hard drive. The guy on Craigslist basically just wanted my GPU and Processor to throw into some old rig he had laying around.

I just need a new MoBo, A case and an SSD if I can fit that in the budget

Can definitely be done as long as your case is not too expensive.

Nice build all throughout.

I always give this advice when it come to storage, unless you are transferring a large amount of data from an old system...I would rather start out with the smaller SSD as you can just always add a HDD later on internally. Doing it backwards will cause headaches because you will either need to start from scratch or backup your files to leave a clean installation and clone to the SSD.

The R9 280X is a solid card. I rocked with it for a while and ran everything beautifully at 1080P, not sure about the 1440P performance but I am assuming it would be just fine for that resolution as well.

yeah i only have a 1080p monitor :flabbynsick:

you're right about the storage and i've been thinking about it ever since i made the order. i could have waited a few weeks to transfer over all of my media. oh well.
