Mavs still had a rep as a team that couldn't get it done in the playoffs though. People were hesitant to believe in them after the Finals collapse and there were people who thought GSW matched up well with them and could give them a run and some actually said they could beat them. Beyond that they weren't the first number 1 seed to lose. NOBODY had the Lakers missing the playoffs or at best being a 7th or 8th seed. We have never seen anything close to this in the NBA.

Exactly, that argument is stupid as hell. No team that makes the Finals EVER is a dissapointment, this is professional sports, nucca, it ain't like they are Division 1 teams playing Division 2/3 teams in college sports

The Lakers are 28-30 after 58 games, that's pretty damn good. I guess people don't realize that at the same point of the season, that disappointing 2011 Heat team was a dismal 42-16.
