Dwight Howard
Superstar
I feel like 50 point games are dying, mainly cause the best players are trying to facilitate more and there is a newfound icreased emphasis on efficiency. Simply put, dudes dont care more about protecting their FG% moreso than scoring a volume of points, which is fine. But that mentality is ALOT different than that of players in the early 2000's, 90's, etc. Nobody really cared about efficiency back then and by nobody I mean players, coaches, media, GM, etc. Iverson won MVP shooting 38% and nobody batted an eye. I feel if Kyrie put up verson's numbers and percentages, he'd be undermined in today's culture. I dont see many ruthless scorers in today's NBA and I honestly dont know if there will be a 50 point game this season.
Ive seen many games this season where I though either LeBron or Durant could drop 50, but they usually would finish with 30 something. If anybody does it this season, it will either be Steph Curry, Kevin Love, or Melo. But I dont see it happening.
Another factor, is alot of teams are too stacked with other scoring options. Like OKC for example, its hard to score 50 with Westbrook shooting 25 plus shots himself. Dudes like Iverson, T-Mac, Kobe, Gilbert, etc. had to drop 50 alot of the time.
