Are airpods superior in any particular way, or is it just the name brand?

What do y'all mean by seamless?

After they've been paired don't all earbuds just connect automatically?

I use Galaxy Buds

I have AirPod Pros, Beats and SkullCandy wraparound joints. I’m not an Apple salesman, so it’s hard for me to articulate, but the AirPods are the best with Apple integration.

Both AirPods and Beats (since Apple owns them) have location services, so I can use GPS to locate them (to the granularity of a map); meaning I can easily know if it’s at home, a friends house, work or somewhere else. Both will easily show battery levels of both earphones and the case by just opening the case via an automatic pop up. With the SkullCandy’s, if I have them connected, I can swipe thru a menu to see the battery life. Maybe it’s just a glitch with mine, but when I get a phone call with my Beats or SkullCandy in, I often (not always) have to switch to the beats manually, with the AirPods, it’s always automatic. I can switch between the different modes (active noise canceling, transparency, and off) via a menu with the AirPods/Beats so I’m sure which mode they’re in. I don’t think I can do this with my SkullCandys. There’s probably more, and I know these aren’t earth shattering, but they are noticeable once you’re using them :ld:

It’s all marketing like the rest of Apple’s products. I’ve said it on The Coli before and I exaggerated, but Five Below $8 headphones do damn near everything AirPods do, minus locate them. I’ve used my wife’s AirPod Pros and was kinda dumbfounded when I heard the music because yes, it was a better overall sound than my cheap-o earbuds but nowhere near $150+ better. Maybe $20 worth better. And I could lose them, put them in the washer, run them over, or whatever 15 times and still not take a the hit of some AirPods

And these people wonder why corporations treat them like shyt.

Switching connections without having to disconnect (I googled it :win:)
I'm doing that already with the jlabs. My ears sweat a bit with these tho.

Yeah, but eventually you’re going to run into some connectivity issues and you’ll be cursing at them when you’re just trying to listen to some music. I run jlabs with my iPhone and encounter this quite often. My wife has a set of beats pros that she’s really happy with and I’ve never heard her complain once about having to re-pair them and she’s constantly switching them between her phone and laptop for business and pleasure throughout the day and evening.

Is it worth the premium? For a casual user like myself who only occasionally uses them while at work, I’d say no. But for a power user like my wife, I’d definitely say that it is.

How does the H1 chip increase headphone performance?

The Apple AirPods Pro in a man's left hand (foreground) with an iPhone and the AirPods Pro wireless charging case in the background.

For fit's sake, the AirPods Pro is the best AirPods you can get—by virtue of the fact that they're the only ones that seal your ear canal.

To get an optimal, streamlined audio experience from your iPhone (or other Apple device), you need headphones that include H1 chip integration. As is Apple’s modus operandi, the H1 is a proprietary system-in-package (SiP) chip that allows an array of improved abilities for AirPods and Beats headphones. There are three main benefits from using Bluetooth headphones equipped with an H1 chip, with the caveat being that it must be paired to an iOS device, which is to say an iPhone or iPad.
Immediate pairing, connecting, and battery life increases are all improvements afforded by the H1 chip.
The first big perk is that headsets or buds with the integrated H1 chip pair quickly to Apple devices and ensure auto-connecting once they are powered on. Second—as is mentioned in our AirPods reviews—the connectivity is reliable and largely impervious to signal drop-outs. The third big advantage promised by the H1 chip is improved power efficiency. We’ve seen improvements in the Android space with wireless earbuds that use Bluetooth 5.0, but Apple’s been making advances in the power efficiency space for a while and it’s one of the drivers of the H1’s development.
