I've travel abroad several times and let me tell you brothas, we carry a lot of burdens and subconscious weight on our shoulders everyday here in America.

Most of us have never been to a place where we can really be true selves. We don't even know who we are anymore. We try so hard to not be like the stereotypes of our people, we try so hard to be none threatening and scary to other folks.

I see a ton of sistas that are getting NO love at all and hurting inside...and have given up on life. My older sister is one of them.

Why do you think obesity rates amongst black women are so high? Especially being black and female in a world where white femininity is the standard of beauty. They take comfort in food...as does any depressed person. And that self-hate, that skin bleaching, that hair straightening...I mean, the white man has done a number on us all...but let's not act like it is just a black male problem...it's a black people problem that comes from living in a white dominated society.

i think alot of people go through depression... its just now its more common for it to be talked about publicly... and its oft-putting to say the least...

The system is set up for blacks to fail no question.... but that period between 18-28 is the hardest period for any person... because you are expected to be an adult yet most still have the coping skills of a child.
