nope. i don't think i have identity issues. i'm certain i'm black. i do have ethnic cultural issues. i'm probably slightly less of a case than a black adopted by some white family. as i got older i did purposely try to expose myself to more black culture and friends.

people treat me like a bedwench often like my mom, family and friends who happen to be black. don't get me started on men.

i have this same problem with friends who are black. they think i'm a friendwench. now that i think about it part of the reason i wanted black friends was to avoid the racial microaggressions that come with white friends. however, my black friends see ME as the 1 passing on those oppressive racial microaggressions in our relationships...so i understand.

it seems like everyone i meet has their mind made up about me on this issue, and when everyone thinks the same thing it definitely makes you wonder. if i was a full blown tom i probably wouldn't have any issues.
:mjcry:
when i get some hard liquor i might do a c00nfessions thread.

Not necessarily, they end up having identity issues that fester as they go into adulthood. They try so hard to fit in with white people but at some point they have to come to the realization that they're not like the people they surround themselves with and that wakeup call hits them like a ton of bricks

Dunno what you mean by well adjusted but as someone who was back and forth between white and black schools every other year you do tend to notice and compare stuff you wouldn't have thought about just going to one...

Like going to a black school and having one white kid in a class and comparing how hes treated vs a black kid in a white class and how hes treated.

How they handle certain 'historical' subjects...

Seeing how the socialization between the races changes from elementary to high school

shyt like that..

Hell even the taste of the food lol

This is true. My cousin was the protypical token black guy polod up, white frat guy clothes everything. All of a sudden halfway through college he's black pride, growing dreads. Hits ppl different me and my cousins grew up in the same community maybe 20-30 black families. Most of us played sports so we were cool, He didnt have that luxury.

Yep. My situation was slightly different. I went to a majority white school but there were a few black kids there from the projects. I wasnt from the projects so their ways annoyed me because I didnt want to be grouped in with them and they gave me a hard time directly, as I got older I started to resent my race and cling on with white people. Eventually white people started annoying me so I'm at a crossroad

Either way, if I ever have children (regardless of if they're mixed or not) I am sending them to a diverse school.

Yeah I feel u. My fam actually had a good talk about that. Your stuck cant identifiy with ppl from the hood and chill with more whites just bc they're closer. We didnt really take advantage of ppl like us in college and there are ppl like us. Now most of us live in either dc or atl, Im actually picking between them right now. You feel like you missed out on that experience of being around ppl like you with the same mindset and same color

Lawsuit: Students allege racial discrimination in Bangor Area School District

Three current and former Bangor Area School District students have filed a federal lawsuit alleging the district discriminated against them because they are black.

The students claim that despite their repeated complaints that other students were racially harassing them, teachers and district officials did nothing.

The allegations in the complaint do not portray the culture of the school district in regard to racial discrimination, said Don Spry, the district's solicitor, although he would not comment on any specific allegations in the lawsuit.

In 2012, the school board adopted a nondiscrimination policy that details procedures to report any possible issues so "it can be remedied and ensure it ceases," Spry said Wednesday.

The suit was filed Friday on behalf of Tristan Booker, 18, and a 14-year-old boy, both of Upper Mount Bethel Township; and a 14-year-old girl who lives in Bangor. It says Booker graduated from the high school in 2013 and the teens attend schools in the district.

According to the lawsuit:

In 2010, Booker moved with his family from New York to the township and attended Bangor Area High School until his graduation in 2013.

He and the other students named in the lawsuit are black and allege they were mistreated by students in the "predominantly Caucasian" district.

Booker states other students called him racial epithets, and although teachers were aware, they took no action. Booker says he was also called names while playing for the high school's football team and repeatedly complained to coaches and school officials.

Booker alleges that disputes with other students who allegedly called him racist names resulted in more severe discipline for him than for the other students involved.

The 14-year-old girl is referred to in the lawsuit only by her initials.

The suit states the girl was subjected to racial jokes and called racist names by students. She alleges that teachers would frequently "misplace" her assignments and assign her failing grades.

The 14-year-old boy, also only identified by initials, alleges teachers would refuse to call on him in class when he volunteered, but would call on other, white students.

Both teens said they also complained to school officials about being called racist names and officials failed to take action.
