You better off hawking random bloggers on twitter with links over hawking random nikkas on the street with cds

Nah you build your fan-base & connections in person, locally first. Having social skills and able to drum up conversations and connect with people is a skill that will never diminish in value. Internet is never gonna replace people putting in real life social groundwork.

Iono bruh's im fairly old myself, and even I am finding myself hopping on this streaming/itunes wave.

The ease and access of digital music is too convenient in this day and age. All the artists Ive supported this year have been through itunes. Especially with this new trend of midnight and surprise drops, I dont have time to wait a whole day then go stand on a line to cop a physical.

New model cars and laptops dont even come with disc drives. I think its about time we all just embrace this new medium and go strictly digital for the future.

The highest selling rap album this year (IYRTITL) did a milli off itunes, shoot I would argue that going digital only actually helps sales in this ADD "click a link" culture the youth are currently engaged in.

I'mma tell you my logic...because I have recently started collecting CD's again.

I heard the homie Phonte Coleman of Little Brother say this in a Concert.... "If you love music, and want to pass it on, How you gonna feel passing him a hard drive or a password??!?"

Don't you hate when you walking along, get stopped they put the cd in your hand..then they ask for donation..

"Nah bruh sorry:patrice: "

Then they take the cd back :heh:.

It's so counter-productive...like you're better off handing out cards with your youtube/soundcloud name on them.

Expecting people to pay for a cd without hearing any content from it in 2015 :mjlol:
Some rappers here in NY have been resorting to using thumb drives to put their mixtape on.

Which is better. $5 for a thumb drive is cheap, plus after you get the music and download it, you can reuse the thumb drive.

I simply don't trust digital media alone..I've lost rare dancehall and hip hop to hard drives and other bullshyt..
I've already gone through three portable HDs from 2008 to now. Lost over 25,000 songs :wow:

At one point I had digital mp3s, cassette tapes, CDs, and over 1000 vinyl LPs/EPs/12"s/10"s and 7"s. Now it's just digital for me for daily listening and djing (with serato).

I'm trying to get back into collecting vinyl again though...so much good stuff is coming out on vinyl it's almost too hard to keep up with it all.

For daily music, I got so much on my phone...mp3s, but I mainly use the soundcloud app and the mixcloud app for music. Youtube is cool too so I can listen to my favorites anywhere I want.

I also like to use the audio archive on my tumblr cause I post up stuff no one else has on tumblr.

Yeah I think it's pretty much a wrap ...

I supported CDs for a long time, into the past few years, where I would pick up the new Kanye, Jay, Drake on CD no matter what. But now I don't use a laptop so much. I don't take the time to import the CD into iTunes and all that.

I'll just stream it on Spotify. Or I'll cop on iTunes if I really fukks with it ... then I just download it from the "cloud" onto my MacBook, iPad, iPhone and whatnot.

I own a movie on DVD. I only had a smart TV at the time with no computer hooked to it. I thought about digging out my DVD player and all that but I said "Fukc all that". Rented the shyt for like $3 instead offa Amizon (?).

Same with CDs I will rock Pandora for just random background music. If I want a specific song I go to YouTube alot. The hassle of picking out a stack of CDs and navigating them is too much.

I still burn CD's and that's what I play the most in the whip. I have 2 60gb Ipod's full of music, I use those as well, but I filled those up awhile ago and haven't bought a new one to update with any new music from the past couple years. So CD's I still use. fukk streaming. I found the quality isn't up to par and I will never pay for a streaming service.

that moment when you realize spotify is better than anything of ever :banderas: you will learn bro.

I will purchase a CD if I really fukking dig the music though. Or if the shyt isn't available to download in HQ.

fukk it I plan on purchasing some vinyl records in the future. Always wanted to.

A SIMPLE GOOGLE WOULD TELL YOU

Global revenue from music downloads and subscriptions has overtaken sales of physical formats for the first time. In 2014, digital revenue grew nearly 7 percent to $6.85 billion, while physical sales — of which CDs make up the vast majority — fell 8 percent to $6.82 billion. These figures, from a report from the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), also reflect the growing popularity of digital music streaming, with revenue from services like Spotify growing 40 percent to $1.57 billion.

downloads still account for 52% of digital revenue

However, despite the increased popularity of streaming music, downloads still accounted for 52 percent of digital revenue — even though the format showed declining sales, falling 8 percent in all established markets. Despite these fluctuations, however, the industry as a whole is relatively stable, with overall revenue falling just 0.4 percent to $14.97 billion for the year 2014. (For historical comparisons, this is down from a peak of $40 billion in 1999.)

nah.... they make you BELIEVE it's going somewhere.... really digital only accounts for 52% of sales in 2015.... so if you think they are in a hurry to get rid of the other 48%

nah
