"Bamma" is just a term used for people who aren't with the style, lingo, culture, etc. Local nikkas get called that all day. Any out-of-towner can also be called that, not just a "country bamma". They'll call a NY nikka a "bamma" quick too, and their opinion definitely isn't relevant. D.C. is the last city on the east coast that cares about or follows NY culture.
"Buh, buh... NY!" :camby:

Every city has the same mentality as far as who's with it or not, so this ain't just a D.C. thing. Maybe because we get a lot of foreigners and out-of-towners, they make an issue out of it.

I can't lie, when I first moved here in 98, I was like what the heck are they saying and wearing?

Cats had them towels on they feet (slouch socks) WITH TIMBS :picard: listened to "pots and pans" music and wore Looney Tunes like little kids lol

But as I got older and appreciated this city more, I liked some of that. Never got into slouch socks, Go Go grew on me, and the Looney Tunes and WB ish played itself out

DC cats are original if nothing else...wear Hugo Boss and Northface jumpsuits like nobody business lol

I got called a "bama" like crazy...still do sometimes lol. They wanted to name me "Biggest Bama" in my senior yearbook but they didn't lol I laugh cause they got the NERVE to call somebody a bama lol. But I've grown to love this city and if you not from here you'll never understand. It's a wild mix of the north and the south

In the sky
Breh when I was in college if I met some chicks from DC, PG, or MOCO they would be cool till they found out I was from here than it was:scusthov:

Chicks real stuck up and some of them are literally only 30 minutes away
But it is a tale of two cities tho. Like Bmore has club music and its own style. DC/MoCo/PG had GoGo music and their own clothing lines and style. It makes sense. Its two very different worlds. No mumbo sauce up in Bmore. The cultures were kinda diff altho they only 45min away from each other.

Bmore was capris, galaxy tees and ACGs. DC was rubberbands on your jeans, mchunu\all daz\solbiato.... etc and foams.

Coming from JerZ and going to UMBC it was lots of peoples from both locals, so all the shyt talking was hilarious to me, as I discovered just how diff Bmore and DC ar-rea were.

DC
I grew up an hour south of DC, in the sticks of VA.

since DC was the closest big city, within radio signal of WKYS, WPGC., we jocked all of DC's culture....gogo, clothing brands(hobo, ddtp, vonteff, madness, etc), the lingo

but we still would be seen as a bama to anybody in DC
