Are Demos Always A Bad Idea?

Used to play the shyt out of demos on the original PlayStation.

That demo disc with Jet Moto...

I had a PS1 with NO games only the demo disk from Pizza Hut and I was coo with that

No. If I find the demo to be good, then I'm gonna buy the full game when it comes out and that how it's been for me since the PS1 days. Developers don't need to not release a demo, they need to know how to differentiate between legitimate feedback and people bytching just to be bytching.

Remember back in the day when a breh done played out the little shyt he had and ain't had the patience to be fukking with no Tomb Raider missing jumps and having to re-do all that progress bullshyt. Was running Tekken 3 with a friend of mine and he was about to go and i was like "...can I borrow that shyt?" He ws like "Nope S'my brother's. But watch this." Dude loaded up a match infinite wins/rounds, made that shyt loop, popped the disc out....and that shyt was still playing." If it's one thing I appreciated the Psx for back in the day was the fact that you could pop out the disc clean it and pop it back in if it froze on you during a FMV cutscene or somethin'.

Those demos lead to me fukking with a bunch of different games. NHL Hockey, Madden, Metal Gear Solid, Tomb Raider, Tony Hawk were all games I never would've played if I didn't play the demos and probably more that I'm forgetting.

Once you had that Roster unlocked...shyt was flames. Plus them retarded ass FMV ending movies.

JazzJackRabbit, BlackThorne, Warcraft 2, Duke Nukem 3d, FULL THROTLE........ My uncle used to cop PC magazine each month and just toss me the disc 'cause he wasn't too big into most of that shyt 'cept for Tomb Raider and Duke Nukem to a point. I ate off those discs until I got my hand on one of those Pc Demo discs from Empire that had like 300 or so demos with numbers/websites where you could download the finished product. shyt, that's how I played MinerVGA , Death Rally and Quarantine 1.

Demo's aren't a bad idea. But beta's kinda are now.

Especially for console games, the only beta that I think was really helpful as of late was sf5.


I know 3 people plus myself that were gonna by starswars battle front, played the beta and was like nahhhhh.


Had a friend that didn't get evolved because of the beta etc etc.


Closed betas are a bit different.

I played the demo's for Intelligent Cube and Parappa like they were full games. The demo's for Hot Shots Golf and Jumping Jack Flash were also in heavy rotation.

Man, you'd play the fukk out of them demos..get the full game and have your mind blown when that shyt didn't reset and showed you something new. Must have worn the fukk out of Einhander and Tail Concerto until I got both of 'em.....and ended up letting 'em get lost my neighbourhood on some unappreciative young kid bullshyt.
