That's actually the 'proper' way to do it the waist technically starts above the navel for women and just below the navel for men. That's the reason why old people and people from previous generations wear their pants higher than we do.

My guess is that maybe if the pants fit around your neck it'll fit around your waist. (granted, the pants are folded when they do it)
But I wonder how close to accurate it is.

If you took your neck size on a dress shirt and doubled it, do you find that it would be your pants size? Like if you wore a 16.5 neck, do you wear a 33 or 34 size pants? :lupe:

the neck should be half of the waist.

it always worked for me.
i'm guessing it may not if you start getting all sorts of fat.
