Gotta agree with dwolf.

Gaming in general is more socially accepted, but being an unhygenic neckbeard fakkit isn't. These days it's easier to have balance tho because gaming is more social these days with online gaming and microphones being easy to access. If you're a musty ass basement dweller with no social skills rocking a fukked up haircut and a mustard stained t-shirt, you're not socially acceptable in any realm.
