I’ve spent approximately 2 Thanksgivings at white households, and they had green beans and mashed potatoes.

:hubie:

All my other Thanksgivings have been in black households, and greens and mac & cheese are the standard vegetable and carbs, along with candied yams. So if potatoes are there, they’re sweet.

We always had mashed potatoes, but it was my grandma who cooked em (she was white):patrice:

But she learned how to cook from my grandpa's mom (black from Arkansas)

I hated greens growing up, never tried em in the 21st century.

But I'ma have to go potatoes. So many ways to sauce em up :lawd:

It’s collards any sweet potatoes but definitely green beans those are all the veggies I recall..

Am I the only person who doesn’t really like Turkey I’ll eat a little just to be nice but I like ham or chicken? But on thanksgiving it’s the one time I eat it. Outside of an occasional sandwich

The secret to good turkey is to season it with lots of butter in addition to whatever spices you put on it, so that it's really moist and flavorful
