the best analogy is that insects and lesser organisms are like robots. they're simply programmed with basic instructions and can do nothing else but follow those instructions.

Humans on the other hand are programmed with those same instructions .Except we KNOW we're programmed, can deviate from the programming, and can conceptualize and interact with various environments, stimuli, and concepts outside of our basic programming.

tbh it's weird how ladybugs will be cool and chill while flies won't even let your hand get close to them

or how baby/pre-adolescent spiders will not be as cautious as regular ones

do they even give a fukk when they're about to die?

sometimes I think about this stuff when i'm swatting the shyt outta flies...:dwillhuh:
Let me tell you something mindblowing:ohlawd:

Humans are the only animals conscious of their own mortality. How do we figure ? Well to understanding death as a concept would require self-awareness—you can't know that your existence will end someday unless you're consciously aware that you exist at all. (The fear of imminent death from an obvious cause is a little different, but animals can "prefer" to avoid dying without understanding death or why it's bad.)
To test their conscious scientists place a mirror in front of the said creature to see if they recognize their self...so far of all the animals tested frrom apes to elephants only mankind recoginze their likeness on a mirror as their reflection :ohhh::mindblown:

Makes you think why are we the only ones gifted with one of the most valuable possession conscious and knowlage of our own death
:jbhmm:
This can be a strong argument for theists and a life after death

Is this a speculation or are there some studies to back it up?

No other species has been observed behaving in a way that clearly demonstrates awareness of their own mortality, though many have been observed behaving in ways that show they are aware when they are about to die or that another has died.

So its a established fact in the scientific community

Right! Like when I kill a bug in my room, and then leave it's dead body for the others to see so they'll know their ultimate fate...and then a couple days later I see another bug of the same species. Thats how I know these little fukkers aren't self-aware. Just functional, and responsive to stimulus. Or maybe they're all suicidal...

Apparently it's no longer factual.
Self-awareness not unique to mankind
