Also no one mentioned Three 6 mafia.

Their influence is undeniable, arguably better than all these 3 south legends.

three six is a lot more of a slam dunk for being legends from perspective. TI, jeezy, and to a smaller extent ross benefited from being popular in one of worst eras of rap.

great post. gucci is camron all the way.

gotta shoutout LIL BOOSIE in here too.

before he got booked, he was neck-n-neck for the south crown with gucci.

i guess boosie is the beanie siegal/styles p of this scenario. i cant believe his name isnt getting mentioned.

arguably he does.

but yea, alot of these arguments are too commercially-driven. which is bullchit, especially with these dudes being street rappers.

truthfully, TI was done when he dropped "TI vs TIP".

hes been a glorified commercial rapper ever since.

rick ross was THAT NIKKA from 2010-2012. maybe even 2013. those years get foggy. dark times. but he was the man.

T.I, was the one that was never the man. he was the only one begging to be seen as such too.:heh:

as far as the classic album talk goes, im not sure about any of them having legit classic albums. im not ruling it out, but its still up in the air for these guys. i'll say this much tho; rick ross has joints that are arguably just as good as jeezy & tip's best stuff in terms of quality. but i agree that their stuff had more impact because they were pioneers and ross wasnt. i agree with that part.

thats wassup but until this become a popular go-to style, he cant be considered a pioneer.

Ross was that nikka but T.i wasnt?comeon breh:snoop:?TI was definitley that nikka...And yes those years were foggy and Ross still wasnt the man among a lack of competetion...even for a couple of those years i think both Wayne and T.I was locked up:mjlol:

The years was foggy but not that foggy,Ross was never in the running for having the commercial side or the streets locked....@homiedontplaythat how many non Ross fans even heard Black Dollar for them recieving it well to matter?

Wacky if you agree he had no impact,u agree with my whole post,u cant not make a impact on any level and STILL be THAT nikka....And whoever said Ross was a better emcee than prime TI:childplease:?.

ross EASILY had the streets locked in those years i mentioned. its not even up for debate. sure you can say the competition was weak, but you can say the same thing about how the game was weak(the mainstream at least) when jeezy & tip were in their primes.

tip was never the man. in his prime, he was always over-shadowed in popularity by either jeezy or wayne. and thats just the south.

:dahell: prime Wayne is a far better rapper than anyone on this list.

and what is wayne's prime supposed to be?

when he was reading from gillie's notebook?

or was it that 'quantity over quality' run where he basically killed off punchline rap by showcasing his pre-school bars?

I'd say the streets was vacated those years before I say Ross had em locked, locked is too strong of a word, plus half the competition was in jail during those years with Wayne,T.I,Gucci,Boosie, and drill rap had 2012....ANd you tellin me Ross wasn't overshadowed in popularity by Jay,Kanye,Drake,Nicki Minaj in that period?...Didn't he get outsold by Jeezy and his own artist Wale in that time:jbhmm:...I don't remember Big Kuntry Kane ever outsellin T.I.:mjlol:

How was competition weak in T.I's era:dahell:?You had the Texas movement,50 cent and Gunit,Jay,prime Kanye,Nelly,Lil Flip,Wayne,Jeezy on the commercial side...on the street side you had 50cent/G unit,Jeezy,Webbie,Wayne,Gucci,Boosie,Plies,Diplomats....To say he was overshadowed by Wayne who was arguably the most anticipated rapper ever after Snoop and 50....and overshadowed by Jeezy,a nikka who had a movement in the streets that might be unheard of nationally is saying nothing:pachaha:...Plus if you check the numbers he at least TI could say he outperformed Jeezy....Ross I'm not sure if he was even outselling T.I after nikkas stoped fukkin with him heavy plus he was locked up,we know Ross wasn't outselling Jeezy.

After going over this more in my head,I don't even wanna hear Ross name in the same breath with either one of these nikkas:scust:....How you gon say T.I wasn't that nikka in his era but Ross was?that aint addin up on any level....If T.I cant get props for what he did in his era,Ross shouldn't even be in the discussion,or getting props on sum default shyt.

In the grand scheme of things none of them are good enough to be legends. If you wouldnt even be considered for my top 25 then you're not a 'real legend'. Its like how someone said there was a class that has your Jordans, Wilts, Bradys etc and there is the class that has the mortal "also-ran" motherfukkers. Thats where they go. That said they made an impact, they have the stats, and I'm sure if you wanted to give a thorough report on southern hip hop they would be mentioned as key figures but they aint legends to me.

There's a lot of legends in Hip Hop who aren't all time greats. For instance, you can't say that Luke isn't a Hip Hop legend. Another example is Too Short.

Jeezy was the one out of the group who was neve the man. He never had a year like T.I. did in '06 where he was single handedly was the biggest rapper. "What You Know" had the streets. "I'm Talkin' To You" had the streets". The whole KING era of T.I.'s career>>>>> Jeezy's and this wasn't T.I. featuring some rapper or R&B singer that was bigger than him. These were solo T.I. songs.

You can argue T.I and Young Jeezy... both have a strong discography but I feel like Jeezy edges him out overall. Although when it comes down being the better MC, T.I obviously raps better. It's like apples and oranges.

Rick Ross has good music but he's not real to himself, no authenticity. So in the future he'll just get looked at as a fraud in my opinion. Culture Vulture type
