Macs typically have a longer life span, faster boot up and shut downs...
I've never seen anything proving this...I've seen PCs that lasted ages. And the startup/shutdown time for PCs depends completely on your build. Personally I rock a SSD and 8GB RAM, my shyt boots up in less than 15 seconds.
One thing I will give you is that some out-the-box PCs are slow and have shytty startup/shutdown times, but that's only because, well, they're shytty and don't have enough memory. Like when Micrososft was trying to sell laptops with Windows Vista and only a 1GB Ram and they were slow from the jump.
Macs are less dangerous for users who don't know what they're doing or that just want to buy something without putting too much thought into specs, but there's nothing inherently faster about them. And like homie said, the hardware markup is
