Are message boards bad for you from a psychological standpoint?

Now hear me out brehs a theory just randomly popped in my head
All the communication we have here could potentially somewhat fill the need to communicate IRL
Everyone (even introverts) has a need to communicate, and message boards are a manner of communication
Is this unhealthy?

It can be when you get too invested (cyber bullied and always defending yourself, always in beefs, always - likely daily- reading negative/hateful things about someone described as you esp if its something you can't help/change.)

Except I think it applies to those not addicted as well, people create personalities behind these screen names and start to believe them, the more attached or intricate they are the more psychological damage has been done, I've belonged to dozens of message boards over the years and there's always couple which stand out and they always get outted

-podcast breh

All very attached to there gimics all with very high post counts.

Those are just the top ones, I've said it before never been on a board with so many obvious weirdos before

Sites like these allow people who are normally shy and anti-social in person to become egotistical, self-centered and overall nasty behind the screen. Like @newarkhiphop said...the personalities these people create run away off the page.
