I watched Ca$h Money Records go from Lil Slim to UNLV to Juvenile, locally, before they made any noise nationally and back then, Lil Wayne seemed more like the gimmick of the crew, surrounded by dudes who were really out there in the streets.
He could rap, was funny/clever, etc. but he was just a kid, I thought, until he dropped the video for The Block is Hot. It was clear dude was on track to be a mega star after that. I still put Juvenile above him, due to the era I come from and seeing Juvenile go from a bounce artist to a real MC, but Lil Wayne changed the game and influenced A LOT of what’s going on today.
That said, the GOAT after PAC would be Nas. His last 4 albums alone should be enough to etch his face in stone. Who else can do THAT (KD, KD2, Magic and KD3) at his age?
