It was always negotiable but 6% became norm.

Probably no profession more over saturated than real estate agents

Yup. Too many people see that as the only business they can get into. And think about. It’s such a low bar that so many people can just hop over it.

In the grand scheme of things, it can mean nothing. It sounds like the mandated commission percentage has been lifted

But a Real Estate agent who has a large book of business with alot of clients is still going to charge himself the same usual commission anyway

Funny thing is I wonder if this works in reverse. Can Real Estate agents now charge even more than 3%-6% on each sale? That would be interesting

This is going to put a lot of people out of work. They were barely hanging on as it is with this economy and interest rates.
fukk em :yeshrug:

walking away with 10 grand because they unlocked a door for you, on a house that you found yourself online, and did a little paperwork. or they just took a few pictures, threw it on redfin, and the internet sold it for them. realtors haven't been worth that 6 percent for a while

It takes actual effort to earn that title though. It’s not even remotely the same.
True but we’re talking about over saturation of a job market and lawyers own a corner of that market. There are so many bad ones out there and ones who got the JD who don’t even practice law.
