Are sound bars a real necessity?

I disagree

Soundbars just can't provide the same kind of sound as a good 5.1 setup

Its all personal preference though

For me its all about sound quality so a soundbar isn't even an option
I thought u meant a more low budget set up.....

Old ass thread but didn’t want to create one

But got a soundbar today and it makes a whole bunch of difference in games. I’m hearing shyt I never ever heard before :lolbron:

Played a bit of God of War and each step he takes sounds weighty and thick. You can hear Artuerus walking and moving from left to right. You can hear the enemies grunting behind you when you’re fighting.

I’m in an apartment with my lady so can’t run no mad wires and speaker setup. So went for the Bose Soundbar 700 and Surround Speakers

Liked the design and the sound was a lot better than a Sony I was looking at. Plus didn’t want a separate sub. The sound bar dumps out so much base even at 0/100 (10 increments)

I rather shell out 300 for a subwoofer speaker system, instead of 300 for a soundbar. Its sleek, easy to move around but if you're expecting to play music and or movies loud, get yourself a system.

I copped a $79 Vizio joint from Walmart and it's the same quality as something nikkas dropping more than 3X the money on

Its a soundbar, I honestly wouldn't go above 80, my old school Alterac Lansing speakers are still loud and clear (in the highs) as fukk. Soundbars are convenient but until we master the size/noise output, its "gimmicky".

Can get decent bookshelf speakers for like $20 each and a subwoofer under $100 and greatly eclipse a sound bar.

They're good to save space and that's about it.

I switched my soundbars to the Sonos Playbar and Bose Soundtouch 300. I love them. I have a Yamaha receiver but I use the soundbar way more. In the near future I plan to buy the subs for both.

I got a Samsung sound bar with sub that syncs with the Samsung tv. Works fine for me and only cost $300 for 300 watts
