Meh. They've hit on 4 different QBs across different generations and have been to the Super Bowl twice since 1980. They're fine.

Since I've been alive they've had Boomer, Carson, Dalton, and Burrow. All played at all pro level while they were there. Boomer and Burrow made Super Bowls. Carson probably would've too if he didn't get hurt.....and I'm not even bringing in the weapons they've found in the draft over the years. For example, Chad, TJ, and Henry were all 2nd round or later picks so was Mixon and Tee and Hendrickson.

Them not playing players hasn't meant they haven't had success over the years nor does it mean they're a bad franchise. The family is just cheap, but they're good at building teams once a generation to put them in Super Bowl contention. That's better than a LOT of teams.
Andy Dalton was an all-pro level QB?!🤣

If you're Burrow watching this...your career is basically flashing before your eyes. It's over. And the wild thing is they never really got a real chance to run it back after that SB run due to mismanagement and injuries.

They did the year after and should've beat KC and played Philly, but refs cheated

Thank god we have Howie
Lurie means just as much, he's never hesitated to pour money into the team and cut checks

Every team has to meet the salary floor and operate under the same cap but being proactive with big deals means all that guaranteed money is put into escrow. A lot of owners aren't willing or able to bite that bullet, it's one of the few competitive advantages you can create that isn't tied to coaching or actual plays on sundays.

They gonna have a hard time attracting FA talent. Nobody wants to play for a cheap skate. They better hit in the draft

True but I’d rep the browns before the bengals. Browns are a historic franchise. I forget the bengals are in the league sometimes
I couldn't. The browns have the look to match the name and team production. Just all around straight shyt :scust:

The Browns lol, May as name them the shyts cause thats what everyone thinks of :russ:

Bengals at least got a cool ass Franchise QB and WR, Not to mention into KC and took down the Mahomes dynasty and have cold ass unis.

Where The Grass Is Blue
They have a high powered offense that wants to get paid instead letting the team fix the holes(defense)that would make them an elite team.

How did they not get a chance to run it back? They came back in 2022, with a vastly improved defense, with Mixon, Chase, Higgins and Boyd and made it back to the AFC Championship Game. Burrow had numerous chances to win that game, but couldnt muster a single point in the 4th qtr. Just like he crumbled in the Superbowl. Spare me the sympathy.

Yes, they are one of the worst franchises

Using Hubbard to prove it though doesn't make sense. He was going to be cut (some say he was and retired immediately).....he didn't just retire because he didn't want to play for Cincy anymore. He retired because he didn't want to play anywhere else.

They will sign Chase.

They are actually being smart with Trey. He's on the wrong side of 30 and wants 33 million a year. If a team blows them away with an offer, it's a no brainer to accept it and let that team pay him. Last guy they paid big on the wrong side of 30 was Geno Atkins and that was a mistake. If a team doesn't blow them away with an offer, then he plays on the contract he signed or accepts an extension that is less than what he is looking for. They aren't a bad franchise for this move, they are a bad franchise for letting people like Bates walk out the door when they are in their prime.

I believe they only tagged Tee to protect him from free agency and he'll get his money after they sign other free agents and figure out how everything needs to be structured.

Not just QB's either they've had 3 HOF or borderline HOF WR's too (Chad, AJ, Jamarr)

They underachieved like a MFera during the Andy Dalton era. They had some talent

Yes, that team was loaded. Brady or Manning, or even Big Ben, likely wins a SB with them.

They betting a lot on Al Golden turning that defense around.

Brehs more tuned into the Bengals do y’all think Lou was a scapegoat or was it justified in letting him go?

Say what you will but he was one of the few who gave Mahomes & KC trouble.

Not only that, they waited too long on Higgins instead of trying to trade him early. He’s a great player but can’t stay consistently healthy.

Chase contract will probably be a floor of $38 million too.

Justified, although the FO didn't help matters with letting some of our defensive talent walk without much fight.
