Are the Lox overrated?

You can make the case there has never been an artist or group of artists that have gotten this much respect despite never dropping a great album over the course of 30 years.

The group albums are ok at best(I’m being nice) and the solo albums are just mid to crap. I know the internet likes to put gangster and a gentleman on some weird pedestal but that album is just ok too. 24 tracks name 10 off the top of your head or the last time you listened to them. Jadas album are famous for being massive disappointments and no one cares about Sheek’s for good reason.

Destroying dipset in a versuz(who are also overrated) had some people trying to put them on a pedestal that they never were at.

Yes. I got boys that talk like they tribe or OutKast or mobb. They don't have one classic album together or solo. Classic tracks and verses, no classic bodies of work.

Yeah, using obscure mixtapes that get lost in the passage of time, over nto having their own version of RTD or Illmatic, really only make older heads respect them. Albums make the genre of Hip Hop for what it is, and not having a legit classic really limits your potential to the younger heads.

they're definitely overrated in that they never lived up to that legendary mixtape run they started with when it comes to album quality. but man... if you were a youngin' when those clue tapes were dropping...

Originally when the warlocks, atimic ants and the micronauts were unsigned hype. The lox should have easily created a classic if they mever signed to puff.
Luckily all the badboy artist suffered admin issues in general. To give them a good look. Yet them nikkaz originally culturally souled't out. They just got to have reclaimation via double r and rhe mixtspe scene. Yet real talk. The lox still got that blemish in their record. As well as the original L.
to fiddy in i run ny too.

Glad they got this period and we got ro hear a real major label lox. Yet their early decision to sellout to puff. Hurt their ability creatively. As that jiggy shyt is a plague and ruined a number of groups and artist. That luckily somehow got a pass from the public. Yet score cards matter in hiphop and factually.
The analysis of them. Will include rhe facts by people of the pillars of rhe culture. Casuals and toys are accepting of misappropriation .

Yet bboys and bgirls are not.
