It’s funny, the Verzuz made people overrate them and downplay Dipset when Dipset is actually the superior group, both collectively and individually

They had better mixtapes, albums, singles, videos, personalities, fashion, viral moments

J Hood was ass btw

No. We are the streets was a great album and they are on so many classic tracks individual and as a group. Between all the joints with bad boy, ruff ryders, Jay that still get played on radio every day to the shyt with Clue, Kay slay, etc they still on and above that pedestal u speak of.

If u can’t turn these all the way up in your car and understand it idk what to tell you

The consensus is they don't have a great catalog. Even their fans know it. Kiss especially has a weak catalog.

Everything else you're talking about is besides the point.

This post is 100% wrong.

What you don’t like don’t mean others feel the same way. Aside from The shiny suit stuff which was very minuscule they’re the only ones who kept it pure rap. They didn’t need Bad Boy and they shown that. They got platinum albums. Off of just Rap. And they still dropping verses that are better than majority of these rappers today.

That's why I said consensus. I'm not in the minority in saying the catalog is weak. Just look through this thread and the majority agree.

They don't have one classic album together or solo. Classic tracks and verses, no classic bodies of work.
the only thing underrated about the lox are the solo albums from sheek...they are so much better than the ones from jada or styles

but yeah classic tracks, verses, guest appearances but overall the group projects and solos they've been underwhelming

Yes they are overrated. “WATS” was damn near 30 years ago and they haven’t had a LEGIT follow up to that…. None of them have over a B+ solo catalogue…. And the B+ goes to Styles…. They’re good rappers…. Skilled… talented and all that. But their bodies of work? fukk no. No way in hell should they ever be mentioned to over “Mobb Deep” like EVER

:manny:I prefer them over a lot of these rappers. Regardless what everyone thinks is “classic” or whatever. Their music isn’t boring and as lyricists they’re way more entertaining.

I love the Lox and they are rated properly to me.

They not in that outkast, nwa, tribe, ball and g, ugk, mobb deep, goodie mob, bone, wu, pe tier......groups with skills, hit records, large cultural impact, etc

Then the next lower tier would be groups like the clipse, hot boyz, etc

But id put them in the tier under that. Theyve always been one of my.favorite groups since the first bad boy album and my favorite is we are the streets. With the guest verses and mixtapes and being dope mcs for so long they're well respected.

If you gauge them by record sales etc then a lot of groups beat them.

Overrated yes, and I say this as a fan

Classic material and mixtapes but no classic albums.
I have always said KTGG was a personal classic because it had some joint that still make me go :wow: but I recently(barely a week ago) listened to it and forgot about the filler and how the album isn't really cohesive and sounds like a bunch of singles

They got loose joints/features like the one off backstage soundtrack and ruff ryders etc I fukk with

their albums suck to me especially the last one

They dropped a trinity 3rd sermon ep in 2014 that’s probably their best project it’s some dope joints on there. Rolling with the Homies my shyt sheek killed that :wow:
