Yes they are overrated. “WATS” was damn near 30 years ago and they haven’t had a LEGIT follow up to that…. None of them have over a B+ solo catalogue…. And the B+ goes to Styles…. They’re good rappers…. Skilled… talented and all that. But their bodies of work? fukk no. No way in hell should they ever be mentioned to over “Mobb Deep” like EVER
Dog I get more angry at that comparison than anything Else

Peak prodigy is in a whole different level. Hell washed Prodigy solo work is clearly better than the Lox solo work.

imo if you made a top 5 albums solo Prodigy gonna have the first 3 spots

and group albums

mobb deep got all 5 spots

You gotta understand those old LOX freestyles and mixtape joints resonated with certain folks the same way your favourite albums did with you.

Add in the fact that Jada may be the GOAT feature rapper and there you go..

This right here; the LOX really got stamped when D-Block was formed. It was when the mixtape scene was a thing. All of that is lost because of the digital realm......they were pre-dat piff.

you had 2 be there.

Yeah and it’s honestly not even close…. Like take Jada for instance…. That nikka output is piss poor… always has been. Now if he had like a classic solo to stand on… and maybe a 4/5 arguable Album after that it would make sense. Dude is super fukkin’ lazy… and doesn’t even seem interested in dropping music. Him not dropping after all that “Verzuz” shyt told confirmed everything I’ve ever thought about him.

Breh they stayed dropping the hardest tapes......
This is equivalent to solely judging Wayne and G-unit off of official major label releases :what:

The infamous is like an inner circle album. That compared to we are the streets or Money Power respect is like comparing Joe Montana to Chad Pennington lol

Jada needs to tap into producers like this cause these are some of the best newest verses he’s dropped. Maybe add Alchemist, Hav and Just Blaze too.

“Overrated” alright. Just say you don’t like rap and just want songs with hooks and singing on it.

They always were great on the features IMO..... Their albums they did though to me were underwhelming like their debut and We Are The Streets although I did like some songs on those albums. On the features though they usually killed it.

I’d take their features over some of these albums filled with corny commercial songs trying to chase mainstream. This was a single and not corny. I think fans are just confused. The last song his last single.

You can make the case there has never been an artist or group of artists that have gotten this much respect despite never dropping a great album over the course of 30 years.

The group albums are ok at best(I’m being nice) and the solo albums are just mid to crap. I know the internet likes to put gangster and a gentleman on some weird pedestal but that album is just ok too. 24 tracks name 10 off the top of your head or the last time you listened to them. Jadas album are famous for being massive disappointments and no one cares about Sheek’s for good reason.

Destroying dipset in a versuz(who are also overrated) had some people trying to put them on a pedestal that they never were at.
The issue is a lot of y'all aren't afraid to die for dumb takes.
