I have always said KTGG was a personal classic because it had some joint that still make me go :wow: but I recently(barely a week ago) listened to it and forgot about the filler and how the album isn't really cohesive and sounds like a bunch of singles
KTGG is a solid ass album. I ain't mad at personal classic status

Yes and it starts at the top. The front man of the group grew up in a nice two parent home where his dad had them sit by the fireplace drinking hot chocolate while reading bedtime stories like Mr Rogers. He sent Jada to private school molding him for medical school.

Instead, this guy becomes a rapper talking about fake ass shyt with no experience to reference from, and yall wonder why this clown can’t make a classic album. He actually has the audacity to welcome Gerald Prince Miller home like he was one of those kids outside that saw the drug dealers pull up with the fly cars and women.

I always wondered why his interviews gave me a fake ass nygga vibe, kind of like gelo ball

Even though I played the first album a lot (a bit of a disapointment for sure though, didn't really live up the hype mainly because of the shiny suit era of it all) and I swore by We Are The Streets when it dropped, they don't really have that super classic album. They have a bunch of super classic songs and freestyles for sure. I mean We Gon Make It, Recognize, I Get High, the list goes on and on.

With the right producer/a&r overseeing everything we could have gotten several classic albums from The LOX.

Always a legendary group though and my young mind was blown when they started tearing up the Clue's. Back 2 Back, Life shyt and all that.

I’ve never in my life heard anybody call We Are The Streets a Classic. Its 3.5 mic album at best

I mean its a great time capsule, the sound was very right there and then. The Triton beats. Still love that album though. That boulder sized chip on their shoulder courtesy of Diddy fueled that album.

'We are the streets'. It got 4 mics in The Source back when they still had clout and Integrity.

The Sheek Louch solo and Ride or Die b1tch might be the only weak joints on there.

I think they might even be underrated taking to account how the rap game is now. They are some heavyweight iconic veterans of the golden era and still relevant and popping even today. They carry themselves with class and dignity never embarrassing sh1t, they act like grown men. That last Kiss project 'Ignatius' was dope with that Dej Loaf and Nino track.

Hailing new gen rappers as dope lyricist is overrated to me, earn those accolades by making dope music with dope darts. The Lox stay known for that :hubie:

They're some of the most skilled rappers ever, but thats bout where it ends. As a group they get over-rated quite a bit imo (they're not mobb, outkast, wu etc level. Never were).

But I'd never bet against Jada not having a fire verse.

EDIT: I've always thought these guys just needed a good executive producer an they'd have an easy infamous level album....maybe they shoulda stayed with Puff

They are great talented rappers with a few good songs and wordplay

But albums wise… not even close to be near the top

NY Radio and these dudes like aries spears who constantly make lyrically ability the main reason over hype the lox

The Lox aren’t overrated.

They inhabit a somewhat niche corner of hip hop.

You have to understand they’re not artists with mass appeal and their albums reflect that.

Within their world of hardcore, lyrical, street hip hop, whichever way you want to frame it…they’re legends.

I don’t even think you could mention another group that compares to them within their genre. So if you’re saying they’re overrated…overrated compare to whom? Solo artists who occupy a different lane? That’s a goofy argument.
