I coach youth football and AAU basketball.....My wife and mother have been begging me to start teaching and go into coaching at a middle school level for like 2 years now..I just can't afford the pay cut right now...

I think Trip or Last Emp (always confuse the two) coaches basketball at a Div. 2

AAU girls 7th grade basketball. Fell into it unintentionally but I love it. About 3 years ago my youngest daughter started showing some huge bball potential. I found a team near where we stay but the head coach for her age group at the time was 23 and in over his head. He would use terms like weak side and not explain what that meant or put them in a zone and not explain the purpose of a zone or explain to anybody what area they were supposed to cover. We talkin bout 9 year olds....girls. I was already helping him with drills, next thing you know I'm explaining stuff and making sure everybody knows what they're supposed to do. Next thing you know I keep getting referred to as coach. Young dude bounced to take care of personal problems, the vice president of the org took over as head coach and I'm the assistant. Once my daughter goes to HS, I'll get my own squad.

It was a great experience...I was at a school that didnt give a shyt about the program though. Its a lot of time, no money etc....basically be prepared to give up your social life for a year if you decide to do it. My new job just didnt allow the flexibility I used to have so I had to give it up this season.

Served as a graduate assistant at my alma mater for a season, then moved to Texas. Worked as head baseball coach for private high school, worked two seasons as a summer baseball coach. Sent a couple players to d1. Asked to coach at a summer college league but turned it down.

Had my first kid, coaching took to much time away. I work with my 3 year old at tball.

T-ball is torture man, just did it so he can start liking the game. He loves when I soft toss and hit grounder to him. Like any 3 year old his attention span is 45 mins. Natural athlete wife was a D1 athlete.

High School Offensive line and running backs coach a few years back, I love it but it is a lot of work, I'm talking 50 hours a week but it was rewarding. I would do it again when I retire.
