How many soldiers did Avon have? Like 3? Wee-bay, Bird and maybe Stinkum. How many did Prop Joe have? Numbers aren't everything.

Breh the co-op was basically every drug dealer in the area. You're telling me none of them had goons? shyt is impossible.

I get why they did it....they wanted Marlo to be the new Avon...but it wasn't handled very well. Especially considering how realistic the series was.

Then again like I said in another thread, "The Wire" is a modern day Greek tragedy, so I didn't hold it against the show.

Cats got soft when String was running things... Him and Joe were running the co-op. They didn't strong arm everybody into that arrangement. Marlo had 4 stone cold killers on his team. Nobody else was rolling like that.

With Chris locked up and Snoop dead, Marlo would have been tested by somebody eventually. How long did he actually "run" the co-op for anyway? A week?:russ:

Marlo and Avon both had an army of goons, you only saw both teams briefly (Avon's while they were tooling up to get Marlo, Marlo when he held court in the street)

To be fair, most of them nikkas in the Co-op seemed content with their share and just running the New Yorkers out of town. And all of them, except Slim was under the belief that Marlo beat Avon and killed Stringer :manny:

This was one of my major problems with Marlo. They needed a "new Avon", I assume to show that things work in cycles, as Avon's power waned a new young live wire would take over....but Marlo had plot armor like a motherfukker. Dude is 2 deep telling 15 OGs to shut the fukk up....it's like c'mon son. I spoke on this before.

Fred.

I don't think it was that simple. I would assume a street family like Marlo's would have more soldiers than shown. They pretty much ran that side of Baltimore and I'm sure each corner they owned had muscle. But for show purposes only the ones closes to Marlo were highlighted. Also the co-op was supposed to bring about peace, so no one was really in that mindframe when it came to that. String and Prop Joe appeared to run it fair game so there was no need for any hostility. Marlo only took over for about a week, had it continued I'm sure at some point he would have been tested, especially considering the hits his team took with the arrest of Chris and Snoop's death.

That was all String and Joe's doing. They didn't want the attention that came with warring with Marlo, so they didn't authorize killing him, instead they tried to appease him. They treated him like Hitler and shyt :snoop:

As long as String, then Joe was running the co-op them other dudes wasn't doing shyt. By the time he kills Joe, he has the connect, he has the power. :manny:

Marlo would've gotten murked just off the disrespect alone....killing Prop Joe, which people at least suspected...."the price of the brick is going up"....etc.

I don't know why we would assume Marlo has all these off camera goons, but nobody else in the co-op does. And these are guys from all over the city, that had been doing it for years. It wasn't like they were just starting out.

That's another problem I had with Marlo. Someone as street savvy as Joe would've seen a shark like Marlo coming from miles away. But instead he outlines his entire operation, money laundering, the works to him, then is sitting there like:dwillhuh: when Marlo stabs him in the back and steals the connect. Hell, as cautious as the Greek and Vonda Spiros was, they never should've given him the connect off brief cases full of money. They didn't know dude.

I just think the circumstances surrounding the "rise" of Marlo were poorly written compared to the rest of the show. Maybe I'm in the minority there. :manny:
