I know C++, C#, some Jquery & Javascript, ASP.NET, HTML, SQL, and assembly. Since I am a .NET developer now I use all of the above except C++ and assembly. It really is just takes practice and understanding the steps you need to take to solve your problem. I use books and the internet all the time to help get the job done.
:whew:
No shame in my game. I'm always ready to learn new ways to do things and ask my coworkers for their opinion. I never have a full glass like this is the only way to get it done. I tend to read online about some elitist developers who claim their way is the only way but so far in my findings as long as it gets done and is not buggy my superiors have been happy. The main thing I have been focusing on is staying current with technologies. Developing is getting easier with framework upgrades. Example. I have been using Entity Framework and Linq to entities which is awesome for using strongly typed connections to a database from visual studio. It really speeds up the development process for smaller web applications and in my opinion allows for less mistakes. None of my coworkers use it but I told myself to learn the newer technologies added to the framework so that I could keep learning and remain marketable.

Linq =:lawd: , But I also had to put a project on hold, because I wanted to brush up on WPF/XAML. Figure I might as well get it out of the way now( esp since Windows 8 is big on it ) that and WCF.

LOL..How did you like that? I picked up 2 Assembly language books a few years back and they are collecting dust. I wanted to get into Snes emulation( I still plan on writing one within the next 5 yrs:lolbron:) and reverse engineering. But man it was taking up way to much of my time to get anywhere.

lol, it was a requirement in one of my classes man. It was pretty limited, only like 1 or 2 weeks worth of work.

sorry for the bump, but I'm not working in the IT sector but I would like some advice.

How does one become a UX/UI Artist or Deisgner? it's a fairly new profession and a lot of job postings require [x] amount of years of experience.

Whoa, holla. This thread.

I'm a programmer, getting my CS degree right now and I'm on a work term.

At my university, we got a specialization for HCI (human computer interaction) and stuff basically doing with UX/UI design. At work, I'm making a mobile app for their company and I've been using a lot of UI/UX techniques spending plenty time trying to make that shyt look right...

:smugbiden:

No wack apps coming out from my doings. It's my first time doing anything with apps, especially since I've never touched JavaScript before, it's pretty dope though.

Java, C#, SQL and JavaScript the shyt I enjoy most.

fukk C :wtb:

Ay and I know JQuery is pretty big but I've enjoyed using Sencha Touch for app development. PhoneGap is my bruh for making those shyts cross-platform running smoothly on iPhone and Android.

See that major is fairly new, I can only assume that before schools started offering HCI courses most UI/UX were either programmers, hardware engineers, or a combination of both.

Yeah, I'm only 22. Started the program in 2008. I'm blessed that we got all that shyt in the program, there's some people I work with who didn't really take any courses like that and it's like :childplease: don't you think about where shyt should be placed so people find it easier/better to use.

Under-rated though to have...
