In my experience this is becoming an outdated mindset. I’ve encountered plenty 30+ brehs rocking locs and longer hair in general. Braids are still somewhat uncommon and look more “boyish” IMO thoughLook around .. we can play the oblivious game to get points for not generalizing.... Or we can be honest.
Dreads, braids, man buns, etc... shyt like that attracts kids who care about looking "cool" and attracting women. Hence why most people with those hairstyles are under 40. That and balding. But a working man with responsibilities is not going to be taken seriously walking into a corporate meeting, court room, job interview with braids or his hair dangling around like a toddler.
Short hair = a man with more time to focus on his purpose and responsibilities. A real man don't got time to be twisting his hair, staring in the mirror and bragging about his hair length like a little punk ass bytch. This why black women bossing up on these nikkas. At least their excuse is they're women. What are these nikkas excuses?
Granted, I work in IT and they tend to be more relaxed about stuff like that
