The pace is faster in today's NBA that's why all the triple-double records are being set
The NBA was fast in the days of Oscar Robertson as well so you have to keep it in perspective

Back in the day they were rare to come by. These days it seems some dude is getting one every night. You wake up and see xxx got a triple double on sportcenter the next day.

Its not even a fascinating stat anymore when its becoming regular occurrence. People (especially espn) would rather talk triple double when a the triple double guy lost the game

Its an age where scrubs making more than 90s all stars.. its good to know that somebody is actually earning their money by going out and competing. Yeah it means something..da hell?

LeBron this year gonna have 20 triple doubles 10 years ago in his athletic prime he had less than 10 for a season. The game has changed the rules are laxed and players and teams have goosed their stats it makes it wack.

You put 09 lebron in the league today and he would easily avg 33-13-12 for a season playing those heavy minutes

No it is not. The pace was way faster back in the 60's oscar averaged a triple double the same season wilt averaged 50 points and 25 rebs

Hasn't average team assists increased? I'm assuming it has because post ups and 1 on 1 isolation plays don't result in assists.

Then there's the fact with more spacing and smaller PFs that more rebounds have become available for guards and wing players.

In combination there's more triple doubles.

And the biggest problem people have is with Westbrook, but I'm pretty sure the Thunder's record when he records a triple double is insanely good.

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
Really? Holy shyt.
Yeah the pace today is 97.3 and was 96.4 last year, in the 90s you didn't start seeing the game slow down until they moved the three point line closer. The pace was 91.1 in 2012 as well.

The late 90s and early 00s are when the game grinded to a halt, outside of that the game has always been fast pace.

I think that they are losing significance. They are mostly a byproduct of usage and in recent years a greater percentage of triple doubles are in losing efforts.
