If you don't think so you're probably just trying to protect your own little feelings at this point because it's overwhelming.
Interesting that some don't stop to think about how things used to actually be before they started taking stats. Here's a hint. Most of the 'ills' that people seem to think are on the rise have generally been falling every since people started taking stats on social issues.
Homosexuality is not more popular. Its been present and even open in past societies. Its probably at its lowest self reported level ever because people are more openly beligerent about it now, not to mention that keeping such behavior/lifestyle or whatever is damn near impossible in this day and age.
Deadly outbreaks in Africa and everywhere are at all time lows. Sure there are occasional outbreaks that are record breaking for certain diseases, but unless you're talking about HIV(which is falling itself) disease contraction rates of most kind are falling rapidly.
You know there used to be an actual cold war. We're not close to that today. There used to be hot skirmishes and large military confontations all the time.
Muslims and Jews have been going over the deep end since before both religions existed.
There's probably less economic trouble, poverty, war and starvation than there has ever been in recorded history. What is there less of? Religious participation.

Don't know what's so funny, but there used to be an acknowledged cold war. News reports and publications referred to it as the "cold war" while the military escalations were actually happening. I get that its kind of weird, but the world was pretty damn aware of the unchecked spending, skirmishes happening on smaller fronts between smaller forces and propoganda to influence nations. Nothing like what's happening today.
