Don't know what's so funny, but there used to be an acknowledged cold war. News reports and publications referred to it as the "cold war" while the military escalations were actually happening. I get that its kind of weird, but the world was pretty damn aware of the unchecked spending, skirmishes happening on smaller fronts between smaller forces and propoganda to influence nations. Nothing like what's happening today.

So a 'cold war' has to be acknowledged for it to be the case? fukk a cold war, it's clear we're on the verge of a nuclear war for anyone that's paying attention. And pretty much every country/region outside of the West is involved in some kind of conflict, so I'm not sure what you're talking about.

You young? The military buildup post WWII is unprecedented in human history. The US and Soviets were arming every country they could get on their side to the point that these countries are still using these damn weapons. How you think these Taliban and groups like Al Queda are so well armed. Since the fall of the USSR most countries have reduced their militaries significantly and there is simply less violence and skirmishes than there have been since probably before the Korean War. War used to be pretty much a reality for every nation. Every country had troops fighting somewhere. There just aint shyt going on today in comparison.

Want to know how its easy to see things are less tense now? Well, the fact that there's even something called a dirty bomb. That used to be a fukkin weapon that no fukks were given about. Chemical weapons weren't looked down upon. There used to not be tactical nukes and there were like 10x more nuclear weapons. Now nukes are designed to be very target specific and take out military targets. Military strategy by major powers is generally not one of target civilians. During the US-Soviet cold war there were few tactical nukes. Most were conventional bomb and missile style that were aimed at taking out large sections of the population.

Why do you think Japan just reinterpreted their constitution on war affairs to defend nations outside of their own? Why do you think China has recently gotten new ICBM missiles? Why is Russia writing off BILLIONS of Cuban debt? Why is the U.S. testing their abilities to defend against incoming nukes? They are getting into position to fight a world war which many people believe is already occurring. off the top of my head, here are current conflicts

Israel/Palestinians
Russia/Ukraine
North Korea/South Korea
North Korea/U.S.
China/Phillippines
China/Japan
Syria/Rebels
Pakistan/India
Iraq/ISIS

And that's just off the top. Clearly you're not paying attention.
