I've been reading up on sovereignty (and similar groups and/or people with likewise beliefs) for some time now but I always gets conflicting results. You are absolutely correct, so how would you tell one to go about correcting their status? I know a few others in this thread are skeptics of it and I myself as well. What ways are the people's rights protected legally(Federal, State) if one were to attempt to withdrawn/giveup?

There's nothing you really need to do. You can just drop your identity and live. Your SIN number and all that is your government slave ID.
If you take your birth certificate to a stock broker they can tell you your net worth.
