That show, while it might be the goat, made the black street characters WAY too dumb and stupid. Even the way they spoke some time was forced to make them seem too uneducated

All the top of my head:

- Dangelos bm to him when he’s leaving the house -“D, where you going at? “ :why: :mjlol:

- the dudes in season 3 not knowing the difference between the Edgar Allen Poe house and a “poor” house

- bodie referring to entrapment as “contrapment”

-the kid in season 5 thinking a copy machine was a lie detector test machine

It’s plenty more I can add later

I don't that they're was anything wrong with the depiction, if I'm being honest. They also showed the shrewd intelligent side, the Stringers, the Mario's, the Prop Joe's etc.

What you talking about OP. Just because they were not book smart doesn’t mean they were not intelligent or clever.

Most of the street guys were depicted as extremely clever. Avon, String, Bodie, Marlo.

Hell even Bubs wasn’t dumb. He was extremely clever.

String wasn’t really a street guy. He was the brains while Avon was the brains and the muscle
