I be hearing songs thinking they’re new but they be 2 to 5 years old and shyt. I’m ok with discovering music that way, I don’t look out for anything new outside of my favorite artists. I could give AF about discovering brand new artists unless they’re dope.

I just saw this link saying "discover new R&B" and i immediately hit the :hhh:.

And then I thought about WHY I reacted like that.

It's because I'm good basically :manny:

I'm 39 and the vast majority of the music I listen to is music I've listened to most of my life already. Old ish from the 70s to the early 2000's get more spins from me than more recent music. I don't get tired of it and plus I got soooooo much music that I'm constantly getting that "new" feeling from old music I go back and listen to.

If I come across some new music/artists by chance, cool, but as far as activily seeking it out, naw I'm off that.

I could not hear any new music for the rest of my life and be straight

I used to ignore those buttons too.

One day I think I was on some pre-workout at the gym and feeling froggy, so I hit it.

The onslaught of nonsense was immediate and overwhelming. I think I skpped the first 4 tracks. But the 5th track... that one rocked.

I think the search for new music is a lot like playing poker; most of the hands you get dealt are gonna be folds. But every so often, you get a winner.

I listen to some new music by unpopular artists on YouTube. I don't keep track of the names of the artists as I used to in the past. I just play random music occassionally.

39 here as well. I don't actively seek out new music, but occasionally a YouTube video will have some decent background music that will have me looking for it. Also recently, that new show Bel-Air put me on to some good stuff I'd never heard before.
This too.
A lot of the new music I hear comes from tv shows and movies.
I'm struggling to remember how we got by before you could identify a song name with your phone.

I've kind of started branching outside of rap and r&b like for rap shyt I'll check for artists I fukk with but outside of that I don't really actively look for new artists but alot of the newer songs I find are attached to shows I watch.

Always love discovering new music. If you love music, you should always love being exposed to new sounds. Spotify Radio suggestions based on other songs I like does provide me a way to get into artists I would never listen to.

Most modern mainstream music I can take or leave though. I get a lot of suggestions for "alternative R&B".

I've had this one on repeat for a few days recently.

Also this one.

:salute:

Discovering new music is one of the best pleasures that life has to offer

I agree.

I started listening to "Sons of Kemet" this year.

I love discovering music, but it's not always new stuff. I love catching old music I missed out on. Almost half the stuff I listen to is relatively new or something I just recently found. Spotify has come in clutch.

Currently listening to Caron Wheeler - UK Blak and Bitty McLean - On Bond Street

Spotify playlists are where its at. Alot of these random albums are getting long in the tooth though. Whenever i see a 10 or less tracks I'm happy

Actually since the pandemic there's been quite a lot of.new.muisc coming out from the Zoomers that's actually seriously good and with a great message to boot.Some.of these new bands and artists I would have listened too in my younger black midi and black country , new road are my latest obsessions.
