I agree. However, nobody can have 100% complete control over their money. You can only control what you have despite whatever happens with the money that does to taxes, ect. Now, I know one should not worry about what they can't control but shyt like that bugs me (paying taxes and not seeing the benefits of it).

I think I feel the way I do about money because of my upbringing. My family is one to "keep up with the Jones's" and they thrive off of the shyt. Although they are mainly middle to upper-middle class blacks, it seems like money is their main source of being. Ive always hated that... it's easy for people to go to work everyday but not spend time with their loved ones. Or spend $500 on some bullshyt but not invest into the community ect. I know at the end of the day it's a matter of priorities but money for me has never been one of them.

I'm in a very morbid mood today... please forgive me:wow:

You use government services that your taxes go towards sustaining, everyday. Whether it be driving on roads or getting your mail delivered. I'm personally o k with not knowing specifically where my few hundred in tax dollars went.

The more money you have, the more options you have to invest in things that you want and most importantly work on things you want to work on. Even if you keep a shytty job, having money allows you to take off without worrying about how much vacation time you have. My plan this year is to put away a month's salary and then just take off work(with approval of course) for a month. It's worth it to me to spend my own money on that vs be at work miserable and worrying about vacation time.

I'm obsessed with doing smart things with the money I'm currently making. I check my budget regularly and make assessments on spending and make adjustments if necessary.

:salute:

It is interesting that we as a people are the most obssessed with money, yet we do the least with it.

:sadcam: WE DON'T OWN NOTHING

I am, simply because I have a set goal to achieve.

My business 'empire' and real estate portfolio pretty much demand it.

It goes.

  • Wealth
  • Health
  • Family
  • Music
  • Women

In that order :manny:

Yes, I am. Money is not the be-all, end-all in life, obviously. Nothing is. But above all else, money offers 3 things:
- time(in the sense that you don't have to spend half of your waking hours slaving away at a job if you don't want to)
- power
- self-determinism

These are the sweetest things in life in my opinion, and money, depending on how much of it you posses, can provide you with all of them, to varying degrees.

That doesn't mean that all people with money take advantage of what money offers. More's the pity for them.:manny:

Because it gives you options and having options = freedom.

I agree to a certain extent. Only bcause money is needed in places where the water is dirty and the land isnt fertile. I dont get caught up in money because its a man made concept and depends on peoples willingness to agree that money has a value. For now its important but if i were to move somewhere that has fertile land and abundance of fish with warm climate money would have little meaning to me.

It would not be cheap to travel to somewhere that has fertile land and abundance of fish with warm climate. The best places in the world to go cost the most money to get there.

Thats not true. U dnt need money to travel. You spend money to get places faster and more comfortably.

Not that obsessed. When I was younger it was all I thought about but not so much anymore. I realized a long time ago that I would have to sacrifice things that mean more to me than money, to make what people consider "rich". I just have different values and certain things I just won't do even for money. As long as I take care of my family, ultimately find work doing what I like (writing), and enough put away for emergencies I'm good.
