It's easier for WRs to get open and offenses focus on passing more now than ever. It's still extremely difficult

I perused.

I see a lot of Lynn dikkeys, Dante Culpepper's, Steve Beurlein's, Rich Gannon's, Neil Lomax's, Trent Greens, etc. high on that list bruh....and for the top rated yardage seasons that are in the mid to high 4,000s, we only see a separation of a couple hundred yards or so from this era and the 80s/90s, which accounts for the bulk of the seasons.

And for the 5,000 passing yard list...yeah, Stafford doesnt belong and has been boosted by playing in a dome and with megatron, but is it not possible that guys like Drew Brees, Payton manning, and Tom Brady are just better than QB's before them? Its not as if completely wack QB's are putting up ungodly numbers on the reg, and its so easy. A lot of QB's are strugglin out here.
Of course there are some older seasons on that list, it's not like the entire top 100 is going to be all the modern era. But my god, go through the WHOLE list.. the bolded are still active guys. Every QB you've ever heard of in the league has somehow managed to crack this list. You'll see Ryan Tannehill, Flacco, Cam Newton, Fitzpatrick, Orton, Dalton, I mean come on

easier in the sense that they're not getting their brains beat in as badly

much more difficult when it comes to the complexity of defenses and number plays that are on their shoulders, though. what's easier than handing the ball off like 30 times a game?

while defenses are more complex, the league rules also neutered them to try and balance things out.

There's a reason EVERYONE now, regardless of QB talent, is pretty much pass-first.

A guy like Aaron Rodgers though would be great in any era b/c he's just that good.

because it's obvious this is the best way to win games at the pro level?

well not until everyone started doing it. So which came first the chicken or the egg?

In the early 90's, you had certain teams who ran pass-happy offenses. The Oilers, the Falcons w/ Jeff George, etc. But they weren't overly successful despite putting up huge numbers.

Running the football proved to be the key back then.

The Yay
if you asked a serious question and wanted a serious answer, youd probably refrain from dumb hyperboles like 'bears defense ran 40 in 10 minutes'
Mike Singletary would still light up any receiver in the league today and hed be a better ILB than half of the nikkas in the league right now

and, the whole premise REEKS of double standards. so defenders got bigger and stronger but qbs didnt ? :childplease:
oh poor little pampered qbs. 20 years ago you didnt have a behemoth like Cam Newton running at your little safety. you didnt have chip and dale ass dude like Russ Wilson being houdini

the players got bigger and stronger on both sides of the field. you conveniently discounting one side is just...intellectually dishonest. you got big WRs on near every team when back in the day TO was nearly one of a kind when he came up. you got crazy good Olines protection with a bunch of athletic motherfukkers when larry allen used to be one of a kind

you have RBs that break tackles like peanuts in AD and Marshawn Lynch

defenses are more complex...sure, and so are the offenses. when all things are equal, defense is ALWAYS in a worse position because its a REACTIVE game. thats why good great defenses win games.

and nearly all of defensive 'complexity' is nullified by the rules. all the bullshyt PIs, illegal hands penalties deem secondaries nearly useless unless you have some cyborgs like in seattle.
all the hard hits being penalties deemed hard hitting safety enforcers useless.

there is no argument that qbs have it as easy as ever in 2014. like people said, look at peyton and bradys numbers. matt fukking stafford threw for 5k+ yards
75% of hits on qbs are flags, you cant rattle a qb like you can a receiver nowadays (well cant really rattle WR much either, but surely moreso than a qb)

the rules are blatantly stacked against defenses and you wanna turn a blind eye to that and praise qbs, who honestly dont need anymore dikklicking than they get daily? :childplease:

fukk outta here breh, no disrespect.
