SZA has had the number one album in the country for like the last ten weeks. There are some pop and pop rock tracks on there but it's largely r&b. I just don't think Ari has the record, marketing, or look to blow. Seems like a cool chick, I just don't think she has "it" like that.

SZA’s album is like half pop and she has a huge white following, she has crossed over and shouldn’t be the point of comparison. her being on the artsy loss Angeles TDE as opposed to hip hop southern centered Dreamville also makes a big difference.

Just in the purely r&b girlies, Ari is lagging, can chalk it up to everyone isnt meant to be a star, but she’s consistently putting out some of the best music

i think people misunderstand levels of fame these days when they come with the "omg she should be bigger, the label is messing up, blah blah".

even back in the height of rnb (90s) its not like rnb singers like swv, brownstone, jade, kelly price, etc were super huge
on the other hand you have the superstars (whitney, mariah, janet) who just happened to be rnb but in reality that can top all genres (which would be sza, beyonce today)

tldr: i think she is doing fine for her level, she can be in the national media anytime she wants, she's got some international corporate endorsements, and she's on a national tour. there's not much more to ask for.

SZA got a BBW (looks GREAT though) and other “enhancements” and does Thot&B. Her and Summer Walker got that genre on LOCK

SZA also has great music videos, i’ll give her that. The entertainment factor is high with her brand. If TDE does nothing else, they can package some dope visuals.


Ari is a better singer and in my opinion a better writer. But she’s more pure R&B, isn’t made of plastic, and there’s no “wow” factor to her. Gone are the days sadly when talent was enough to make you “pop”.
