They've done so much to keep our schools uncompetitive and dysfunctional that they don't realize that their schools are uncompetitive with the world at large. This is why negative zero-sum policies do not work. The more advanced countries realize that you're only as gifted as you're weakest link. You can't let the bottom fall out, just because you want to feel better about yourself.
Honestly I try to come to grasp with this concept on daily basis,in one way or another, but I'm sorry to say that after each conclusion, I end up leaning slightly more as a socialist, at least in theory, but the capitalist mindset roams on the entire the premise of: I have to get mine and fukk everyone else. While this does lead to some remarkable innovation and research, which could arguably never occurred within a society which is too content with the status quo, it unfortunately leaves a destructive path, of alienated resources and people....

But that's the reason why they are doing common core. To get kids how to THINK about why and how they solve their problems.

We live in a society where we give out answers to kids and even the teachers don't know how to do it. It's not because it's convoluted but because they spent all their time memorizing answers such as 5 x 5 = 25 but they never taught kids the concept of multiplication, that 5 x 5 is conceptually the concept of 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 = 25.

You can ask yourself why thinking critically is needed but don't complain that common core is "too hard" when your African brothers, UK bloats, Indian and Asian brothers and sisters around the globe are lap America for the uptenth time and they are being hired for jobs because companies are finding more and more Americans are woefully unqualified to be employed because they are too afraid of having to think.

I'm on the fence about Common Core. The math portion in particular looks ridiculous but I suppose it's there to develop critical thinking.

Also, everyone, black or white, thinks their kids are a little prodigy. Posting up their straight A and B report cards on FB and IG. Elementary school is a fukking cakewalk. You have to be illiterate or a total dunce to gets Fs in primary school. Let's see where those kids are in Grade 8 though. :mjpls:
Honestly north american education as a whole on a grade school/ high school level is not nearly competitive enough internationally. It is time people face the truth.

I was years ahead of the kids here when I moved to Canada as a teen. I did my competency exam and they asked me what grade I wanted to be in in highschool :dead:

That's not a good look for North America.

That has nothing to do with it. They'll work more, for less. Simple ass mofo'ing. They over some quality as well. However, America still leads in innovation and being inventive. America as a whole decides what is cool so an American shouldn't be overly afraid but should and eventually will our prices down for our labor. People make less money then prices will surely fall but not quick as we'll like.
