Around what year did you stop listening to "New" rap regularly?

2012 sounds about right, because that was around the time that I thought the genre was going to evolve into something almost soulful, but in actuality it regressed to simping, tricking, and drug addiction lol

Tha ks to Keef in 2012 bringing Drill to kill off black kids, and 2015 with Future making autotune the standard in singing.

People saying the 2010s is wild to me. Can’t even fathom just cutting off music off at an era and I still listen to a lot classic stuff but I’ll never get rid of that itch to hear what’s new.

If u talkin pop/RnB yeah sure

But rap is a youth oriented genre and their comes a point u gotta realize that u not the target demo anymore and that's OK :ehh:

So Ima just bump some Al Jarreau and keep it pushin :flabbynsick:

Y’all say this as if new hip hop artists don’t emerge as well. What’s the target demo of music that’s dope.

TBH I find modern day Hip Hop very difficult to follow. It has nothing to do with the quality of the music, its just way too many rappers out right now and its overwhelming attempting to listen to ALL their projects. In 2024 I only listened to LL and Kendrick's albums.

Rick Ross and Nas are main two acts I check for as soon as they drop even though they are both legacy acts at this point. Also a new Jay Z verse, I don't expect him to drop an album ever again but it feels like he drops a verse once a year on a DJ Khaled posse cut :pachaha:

Probably around 2017/2018.

I kind of just fell out of the loop and my favorite artists weren't releasing music like that anymore.
