Around what year did you stop listening to "New" rap regularly?

Are we talking rap in general, or just radio/popular stuff?

If rap in general, I haven't. There are always new artists that spit real stuff but might not get the shine.

As far as radio/ most popular stuff, I started getting really selective with that a few years ago.

Around 2009

Always had a diverse interest in music and shifted to the other genre's I enjoyed after awhile.

Picked back up around 2012 when Chicago Drill was heating up - I couldn't deny it, reminded me too much of the bullshyt I was on coming up yung.

2008. Ring tone rap was at its Zenith. Mims "This is why I'm hot" and Rocko "Umma do me" type shyt turned me off. Chain hang low and whatnot. Buncha trash. Hurricane Chris. No, that stuff didnt come in 08 per se, but that was when I started tuning out. I was listening tk 90s hip hop almost exclusively by then.

New Hip Hop stopped grabbing my attention around 2004/5..I completely gave up and lost all hope Id say when 50 made it Big, I was turned off.

I only hear new rap in passing, when someone is playing a track in their car or Im channel surfing. Let's be honest, 99% of it is trash

Prolly 2014. But I was goin thru some shyt tho. I tend to listen to new stuff here and there, but I'm nowhere near the nikka I was in 07, scouring music blogs. Plus now most these nikkas is high-key trolling now. Can't front on alot of the new nikkas beats tho, that Baby On Baby go hard af in the whip

Anyone who comes in here giving a date was never a hip hop fan to begin with. You always have to see where this genre is going if you so called claim to be part of it. I'm looking at all the posters actually giving dates and SMH. Then they complain when other ethnicities engage in it.

U sound stupid af breh. What about the cats who grew up on Rakim, Run DMC and LL? Older mfs? I don't think too many late 40 and 50 year olds are checkin for new shyt. And they we're the generation who set the tone for the culture

I don’t understand why 90s east coast bias lends itself to such stale and cliche opinions on rap

I’m so glad I didn’t grow up on that music. People from the other regions have regions and era have such a better view and understanding of the culture

I'd say 2012 but when I say I'm talking more like vets that were putting out new joints (which I still occasionally check for).

But I love listening to my 90s hip-hop (and a little early 00s) since I grew up during that time but I also revisit some of the late 80s shyt since my sister was a fan of that 87-91 hip-hop sound .

Lately however I've been revisiting some late 90s records I didn't pay much attention to at the time, but listening to them now tho .

Kendrick Lamar is the last new artist I really listened to regularly.

if you like kendrick, it's actually a pretty decent time for rap. he's influenced many (Westside Boogie, Saba, JID, J Cole, Tory Lanez). Of course nothing beats the OG but the offspring got a lot to offer

Bro these nikkas just don’t like hip hop. Some people are saying as early as 2000-5. I know we don’t agree on everything, but this is spot on. What do you think is the worst era of hip hop? I’d say the mid 2000s
