The question is not what Brazil's absolute black population is but their percentage of the population. Some people here are saying 50% which is hard to believe given Brazilian census and historical record. I tend to stick to facts over dude's biases. Dude, there is more black people in Brazil than in the states, the number of blacks and people with significant African mix is huge. Who cares about statistics, most of them nikkas is Black. There is no exaggeration

Breh, there were more slaves in Brazil than there were in the US and it was the last place to abolish slavery in this hemisphere, where do you think all them black ass people went? You have to take it in context because there was also massive amounts of non-black influx from the Natives and cacs besides so what's your point? Arguing with you guys is like arguing with the children. The blacks didn't arrive in Brazil in a vacuum, they were followed by non-black populations with even greater numbers.

Yup. It was shocking because while I kept trying to figure out what people were, asking their background, they sat me down and were like "dude, you americans have something embedded in your mind that race is so important, why?" and I really couldnt answer. We are sick people, we are entirely engulfed in race, racism, etc. The only answer I could give them was the Jim Crow laws really effected our psyche, and the fact that we're economically segregated made things worse. We're getting better, but it's def not the same as brazil.

Just look at this thread, whats funny is, brazilians themselves would never have a thread like this. these articles you pull up in google, are almost entirely by westerners writing about brazil (with a western mind), you don't read these articles from brazilians, or them analyzing america's racial complexity.

You have got to be kidding me, and these things weren't present in the US? An influx of non blacks, like natives and "cacs"?

From 1700-1800 there were 3 times as many slaves imported into Brazil as there were in the US, 3 times. You have to be stupid as hell to think that large number of people just vanished or were assimilated when that didn't happen in the US, especially when slavery ended later for them.

No. The number wasn't that significant, and that immigrant wave ended up mixing with the whites that were part native/black. The whole 'whitening' program the dictatorship tried to implement failed. It only succeeded in Parana, but that's not where the major cities are, so when those people move....they almost always mix back into the true brazilian population.
