Man I loved and hated this era at the same time. Especially the dipset shyt. I loved the music but SOHH almost became unbearable with all the clowns coming out of the woodwork pretending to be Dipset members.
I've said it many times, all the love that Dipset gets today is 100% revisionist. I was a huge fan of the Dips, it was damn near all I listened to for a while. And people were NOT fukkin with them that hard outside of the internet. It was a real niche/cult following...but it was dope.

I'm 26 and didn't get to appreciate that era unlike most old heads. But I can go look at my cd collection right now and about 65% to 75% of it is from the 90's.

That era is pretty much untouchable as far as quality of music

I noticed a lot of new age hip hop fans Aand Ktt posters (white people) share the same sentiments as the writer

They could just say "I like that hip hop has become soft, sucked of its culture commercially and doesn't make me feel left out" cause we know that's what they really mean
:ohhh:

That's real...

I read the whole article.

All I really remember from 2004-2008(My high school years) was watching 106 & Park, and listening to the radio like

:scust:

Even being a teenager and being from The South, I remember just not liking much of anything mainstream.

The only stuff I checked for was trap. Jeezy, Boyz N THe Hood, Gangsta Grillz, Wayne, all of that was fine. But I think collectively, the 00's were a weird time for hip-hop(I don't wanna say horrible).

Like, seriously. I'd even say 2010's(Current Hip-Hop)>>>>>2000's hip-hop. I remember feeling like I could see the light at the end of the tunnel around 2009-2010, basically when I reached college age.

I knew whoever wrote this had to be white

I wish white people would stop writing articles on hip hop that are in large geared towards the black community

Like oh thanks white man I'm sure you're opinion is more valuable than an entire group of black people
That would mean you would also need to stop posting. In fact, that would negate your post you just made. Now if you said Jews need to stop writing articles critiquing the normalization of black criminali- err, I mean, hip hop, then that's a whole other thing.:jbhmm:

Tired of reading corny peoples thoughts about hip hop...black or white. Only a cornball would say a decade that included siquo's weird ass as hip hop...thong song played on rapcity in the 00's...

It's all about the 90's kid...real heads know this:francis:

on some level whenever you were around 16-20 will be the GOAT era for you, because hip hop is a young man's game. For me, it was 2011-2014/15, starting when I was a senior in high school and got my license. I knew all the songs on the radio word for word, I have great memories associated with those tracks man. The 2 Chainz feature era...the MMG Rich Forever era...the same damn time/magic/turn on the lights era...

I'm not going to sit here and tell you that that was objectively the greatest period in the history of rap music but :yeshrug:it's my personal favorite

:duck::duck::duck::duck::duck:

20 something yr old jewish kid pretending to know the culture :camby:
Looking at his FB page, I think he's around 31. He was in college as of 2002, wasn't 18 as of 99. My guess is he was cognizant around 95 at the earliest. He's from Pittsburgh, I'll bet a nice part of Pittsburgh.
