Stillmatic
Blueprint
the black album
Diplomatic Immunity
Purple Haze
Frayser Boy - gone on that bay
American Gangster
UGK's album(07)
Cormega born & raised

^^^are the main albums i can remember off top that i listened to consistently that came out in the 2000's

Nope. I lived thru both eras, and the 00s brought about the commodification and commercialization of rap. Sure there were classics and new artists and sounds that emerged, but the 00s are not seeing the 90s in terms of creativity, classic crews, movements, classic albums and styles that remain relevant today. This effort to legitimize the 00s at the expense of the 80s and 90s is getting exhausting at this point. If you listened to rap in 93-96 and were there when the classics were dropping left right and center, theres no way you can put any era above it

This x10

Plus, there was more of a regional sound to all of the music coming out. Still one of my favorite aspects of that time.

I made a thread basically saying the same thing last year

Except this writer took shyt WAYYYYY too far. Luda never put out a good album:why: no. Luda never put out a CLASSIC album, but he's made SEVERAL very very good albums

Yea nikka said Luda didn't drop good albums I was like wtf

Word of Mouth Release Therapy and even Back For the First Time are classics to me

Article trash but I can see a 2000-2005 vs 1994-1999 argument being made tho

ITs weird how up north nikkas always go for D4L and the likes when talking about why Rap "fell" off. Fact is the South has never been as uptight as the North was regarding types of music. We appreciate and create all type of music.

Case in point:
check this southern classic here:

and Look at Ny's halfbaked shyt :russ:

Not apart of and know nothing about lol

Your entire post is a personal issue you have with me and not any actual legit critique.

I'm not gonna sit here and justify myself to YOU. I know what I'm apart of. YOU don't.

Maybe if you were involved in your local music scene you'd know that my entire post is a real legit critique that a lot of locals involved in keeping a music subculture in their scene echo my sentiments.

@ the bolded :dahell:

U still a cac aren't u?

And how do you know what HE'S apart of? :coffee:

You completely disregarded his opinions based solely on him being a cracka ass cracka...and we're on the exact same page there....so why are u still here? And trying to argue with people that have inherently superior opinions to yours?

Being that your opinions can never be equal to black folk (according to you)...why not just disable your account...or at least bar yourself from the booth since nothing you say here has any merit? :jbhmm:

You are dumb as fukk if you think race means you can't be apart of a musical subculture or involved in it.

That shyt extends beyond your headphones and car.

Exactly. Think of all the major crews, labels and movements we refer to, theyre all from the 90s. Theres new age rappers reenacting old Three 6 styles and imagery, Bone Thugs style and imagery, Deathrow era imagery and styles....Cash Money and No Limit still the blueprint for these new rappers from the South. I could go on and on.

If anything, the 00s was the era of the RAP SUPERSTAR. No more crew and groups, every rapper is a major star with their own label and their own shoe deal/clothing deal/movie deal/wtv endorsement tie-in dudes were doing in the 00s. Eminem, 50, Kanye, Jay (who became this Bigger Than Rap figure in the 00s). The focus became less and less on the music, and more on the individual and their level of "stardom". I dont think that was a good thing for Hip-Hop looking back,....

You just completely disregarded his opinions because he's a cac...and acknowledged hip-hop as black culture which doesn't need to be dictated to by whites...now you saying ANYBODY can be apart of the culture. :dead:

FOH bytch take your own advice:camby:

People who are actually and actively involved in their local musical subculture aren't writing for fukking pitchfork, noisy and bullshyt making money off their opinions. They aren't. They're actually supporting shyt and making shyt happen. Not writing about for some commercialized website

Then again this is thecoli filled with nothing but posters that pretty much do nothing but shyt on current hip hop while still having jay z vs Nas threads like its the fukking 90s and contribute absolutely nothing besides some words on A forum. So I'm not surprised you'd take issue with my post, it hit a soft spot

Being apart of a musical subculture doesn't end with your race and consumerism.

Your opionion doesn't reflect real life and what's actually happening within local music cultures.

And people that are from towns which have a less than 2% black population can't speak on a goddamn thing that got to do with black folks...or their musical genres....you ain't apart of shyt and you have no culture.

When you look in the mirror...that cac in the OP stares back at you and it burns you up. :ld:
