just getting the next gen equivalent of RE4 as at the very least a temporary exclusive is going to be hard for the wii u. bayonetta 2 doesnt count since it is nowhere near as successful a franchise as RE. it was a dead franchise till nintendo saved it

the equivalent of metroid prime would be a complete modernization of an old beloved 2D franchise. earthbound would probably be the best bet for that, and i doubt nintendo is really ever going to do that.

and in terms of making a new f-zero, sega actually developed the last one, so i have no idea if nintendo is even thinking about doing it. many of their most popular games in the west (metroid, f-zero) are not nearly as well regarded within nintendo for some strange reason.

im not even sure if 1/3 of these things will happen

and to top it off, the gamecube was the second most powerful cosnole on the market. wii u will never have that going for it.

they put out a console with the hardware of a casual box, the controller nobody knows how to develop for, a bunch of ports that hardcore gamers already played months ago, a zombie game that looks like it was made by interns, and a primitive mario game. it makes sense why this thing only sold to nintendo fanboys, and is seeing a hard drop after that market saturates.

also by the time that elda etc come out, the wii u will have been on atleast one price drop.....sale should increase when you can get the deluxe plus mario kart for like 300 bucks, or deluxe with smash bros etc.....nintendo will be just fine in the long run...i love my wii u so far, but like someone said earlier there isnt enough fresh games yet, everything but mario is a damn port, or looks terrible. the first day games are always the worst looking but damn, release another game but mario god damn it.....

if 3DS logic is to apply to consoles, the wii u can turn things around with a price drop and some kind of ambassador program. however, i dont believe handheld logic applies to consoles. i think this thing is going to be the worst console in nintendo's history.

It's going to be hard to beat out Virtual Boy.

it's kinda hard because nintendo is stretched so thin between both wii u and 3ds development. it looks like retro studios is going to do something completely non-metroid related, maybe they can take up the slack for f-zero or star fox, and team ninja can do another metroid. miyamoto aint getting any younger, dude has to oversee zelda, pikmin, and personally lead mario development not to mention new IP. production values of 3DS games are just high enough to demand serious resources, if you look at the droughts on the wii, you gotta wonder if 3ds was a part of the problem.

nintendo views VB as a "portable", so i kept that out of contention for worst nintendo console. virtual boy seems to be in the gameboy family.

yup, no way they compete with the new ps and xbox, but what they do have going for them, as a company, is the fact they profit off 1 game bought.

Those days are long gone. The Wii was a success because it was such a radical change in gaming, not because it said Nintendo on the box I think.

as far as nintendo, same with the 3ds, sales will pick up once the shyt like a 3d mario, elda, smash bros etc (as in the nintendo exclusives)

i really just hope either system that comes out as far as ps or xbox is 100% backwards compatable.

Not gonna likely happen. The PS4 is abandoning the Cell so that implies backwards compatibility is dead. Not sure about the next Xbox but I doubt it. There's too much money in reselling old games.
