I don’t see why I shouldn’t move to California. I love mountains and palm trees and beautiful natural scenery. I know it’s expensive, but I have the credentials to find a decent job out there.

And that’s cool and we all agree on most things, but even in a predominantly black town, I feel distant from others. I’m just not welcome in these circles down here. I do know black men in California who are doing great financially and socially.
