that's backwards.
most of the marriage related stresses and worries die down with the onset of menopause and continue to get better into the 50's and 60's. my parents don't stress about anything anymore. houses and cars paid for....kids outta college and doing well...retired/retirement on the horizon. all the household income they get to keep for themselves and take vactions with now that they're empty nest'ers. they're having a fricken second honeymoon and sh*t....

I can only speak from my experience. And that tells me that women go into almost a 2nd puberty when that shyt hits. Imagine being with a level headed woman for 25+ years, then suddenly you're married to the mental equivalent a 13 year old girl again, only she has the body of a 60 year old. I'd leave too.
Now, I have heard that if the couple can get through it, then it's all good, but those years are supposedly very trying.
